Publication of the revised National Frequency Plan
In accordance with the Electronic Communications (Regulation) Act (Cap. 399), on 17 January 2025, the MCA published the 7th edition of the National Frequency Plan (NFP). This 7th edition includes various revisions to edition 6.4 (October 2023) which has been superseded.
The revised NFP serves to:
- Align the national frequency allocations with those published in the 2024 edition of the Radio Regulations (RR) of the International Telecommunication Union. The majority of the RR provisions, as revised by the 2023 World Radiocommunication Conference became effective as from 1 January 2025.
- Designate radio spectrum in accordance Commission Implementing Decisions (EU) 2024/340 on mobile communication services on board vessels (MCV services), (EU) 2024/1467 on apparatus using ultra-wideband (UWB) technology and (EU) 2024/3157 on wireless access systems including radio local area networks (WAS/RLANs) operating in the 5945-6425 MHz band.
- Designate radio spectrum for terrestrial systems capable of providing wireless broadband electronic communications services in the 40.5-43.5 GHz band, in accordance with Commission implementing decision (EU) 2024/1983.

In order to fully implement the Commission Implementing Decisions stated under (b) above, the MCA has also updated the apparatus general authorisation framework as established by Decision No. MCA/D/22-4662 . In this regard the MCA has published a revised Schedule 03 concerning WAS/RLANs and new Schedules 21 and 26 concerning UWB apparatus and MCV services respectively.
