Decision on the Source of Funding for the net cost incurred in providing universal service obligations during 2016
In October 2020, the MCA published its decision on the Review of GO plc’s application for the net cost it incurred to provide universal services (US) during 2016 following that an auditing exercise was undertaken by an independent body. Following an assessment of the claimed US components, and auditing of the calculations submitted by GO plc as the designated undertaking, was established that the net cost incurred by GO plc amounted to €66,438. The MCA has then published a proposed decision on the source of funding of the USOs and since no feedback was received, it was decided to publish this Decision on the same lines of its proposed decision. It was established that the total amount of €66,438 pertaining to the net cost incurred by GO plc to provide universal service obligations during 2016 shall be financed from public funds.
